Day 265 - Sis

This room has floor space finally, line up of boxes only on three walls. Mirror showing from mid-wall to ceiling. Mirror? Ah that took much of the joy out of the progress we made today, now I'll have to clean it.

Day 265 - Lisa

Spending our weekend going through all the books in the basement.  Trying to sort out our belongings.  We both go so excited when my mom opened the tote bags with our gloves.  Smells so good.  Lots of memories came flooding back.  Of course, we had to put them on, tap the inside and hold them up to our faces.  Glove #1 I used for over 18 years.  Even had the inside patched and sewed back together again.  Not sure how long my mama used hers.  The last one I had for a good 10+.  Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!  I want to play ball.

Day 264 - Lisa

Wow!  What frame of mind was I in when I purchased this book?  LOL.  Found this while going through the boxes of books we are cleaning sweeping;  donate, toss or keep.

Day 264 - Sis

Among all the destruction of the retaining wall, that includes wood, rock, gravel and old wood, oneeya seems to have found a spot to park.  Wonder if I could rent her out to find parking for hard core shoppers!  Can you tell I'm watching Shark Tank?

Day 263 - Lisa

And yet another spot I found my cat sleeping and cleaning.  I realize it's a bath mat but it's for humans not cats Miss sunii!  And its for use in the bathroom not the closet!

Day 263 - Sis

Nope that is not a giant's Pick Up Sticks game, it's our old retaining wall.  Here's the beginning of our new and improved wall.

Day 262 - Lisa

As my mom said in another post the leaves are actually starting to change a bit already.  I'm hoping we have an early turn so our friends who are coming in October can see all the color.  I sure hope I make it back to New England in the Fall again some day.  The air is changing, getting a bit crisper in the mornings and evenings.  I love Autumn.  It's my favorite time of year.  Nothing was quite like the colors we saw last year in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Day 262 - Sis

Cleaning upstairs and walk into the bedroom with the new mattress set and find this.  She has tested and claimed every possible place to sleep in the house.  That's it, I'm renaming her Goldilocks and Lisa, oneeya and I are the Three Bears.  Have to wonder who owns who between sunii and us?

Day 261 - Lisa

We started our a picture a day blog in 2010.  We have taken a combined 12000+ pictures in two and half years on our journeys near and far since moving South.  I told my mom what are we going to do with all these pictures?  We need to find a way to incorporate them into our every day life as they make us happy when we look at all the places, people and memories they represent.  My mom then read an article in the Sunday paper about home decorating and how its always more inviting, colorful and interesting to share your travels and experiences through art in your home versus going to a store and buying something that doesn't have a personal connection or memory attached.  Several ideas we have incorporated into this house is what they suggested;  themed rooms, pieces of art such as figurines, pictures, shells, rocks, cloth from places you've been mixed with your furniture and on your walls.  So I decided to choose some of our favorite New Orleans pictures and make a collage for our NOLA French Quarter doors themed dining room.  We are not formal people.  I enjoy that I've inherited my grandma's china and glassware and I love a nice table but I want a relaxed home.  So we decided to give our what is supposed to be formal dining room a Big Easy twist.  I love this room.  As just as the article suggested when I go sit in there it takes me to New Orleans which I love and makes me feel happy, kind of funky, colorful with a mix of old and new.  We got the canvas today and I think it exceeded our expectations.  It may not be much to others but I was jazzed to see my rookie photography on canvas as a piece of art in our home.

Day 261 - Sis

Ethnic cleansing is horrible. However on garbage pick up day, ethnic cleansing Is necessary in my mind.  We have a side by side fridge, (not my favorite type), which really limits the shelf space when it comes to leftovers.  So today, it's out with the Portuguese linguica and in with the Mexican dishes.  Garbage day includes recycling right?  So that should explains the sandwich!

Day 260 - Lisa

Worked on trying to find all my Disney items this past weekend.  My mom and I made a deal that we each get to decorate one of the two guests rooms.  I chose to put all our Disney or I should say Disneyland pictures, tins, figurines from years gone by in my room.  It's coming along pretty good.  I have the futon and a small dresser so I put up shelves to display mainly my lunchboxes, Mary Poppins, Mickey Mouse and Shag items.  I am going crazy because I cannot find my biggest treasure my Shag prints of the 5 lands in Disneyland.  They are a collectors item and now out of print.  I protected and packed them so well we cannot find them.  My mom and I both opened all the boxes in the basement so we think and searched.  I'm brokenhearted they have not turned up.  They are very special to me.  Hoping they just magically appear one day.

Day 260 - Sis

I worry about this plant's survival due to its place in the house.  There's not a lot of light in this area of the dining room and we're not in there except to dust or check the plants.  Today I feel I have given it a better chance of making it by placing the Ott-Lite on the stand.  Now it can have a few hours of light a week  to nourish it's growth.  It's going to be so happy, probably thinks
it's been shipped to California!

Day 259 - Lisa

A good friend helped us out on this Sunday.  Fixed our fence, our gates, replaced two lights in our basement and installed this new fan for my bedroom.  No more broken blade, wobbly fan for me.  I have this more contemporary look now.  Did you notice the big puckered lips on the ceiling?  LOL

Day 259 - Sis

Lisa moved the 32 inch TV to the basement/office and the 22 inch TV to a smaller room upstairs.  Now I can't see Russia, but can watch the 49er's game in San Francisco without my glasses!
