So being a sucker for all things Christmas including still watching Rudolph, The Grinch, Charlie Brown and all the other specials I was excited to see Hallmark's Hoops and YoYo were getting a Christmas special and SpongeBob SquarePants too!  I love love love Hoops & YoYo e-cards.  Woohoo!  Hoops and YoYo - Boo!  Broke my heart how horrible it was.  SpongeBob is way too much circuit overload for my viewing tastes BUT the finale song was be one of my all time favorites going forward!  LMAO! How did I manage to miss the delicious spinach/artichoke dip Lisa made for Thanksgiving?  It's Saturday and I had forgotten all about this.  Time for a break and a dip so to speak!;-

Time to bring out Oh Oh Oh Leon!  Been in storage for four long years!  Oh such joy!

Up and time to put away the Thanksgiving decorations.  Daughter number two will be visiting in less than week. We want to be able to sit down and enjoy the few days we will spend together.  Need to get things cleared out and get ready to get the next holiday season's decorations ready and up.

Day 326 - Lisa

I confess my favorite part of Thanksgiving is setting the table.  I love having beautiful table decorations (usually involving fresh flowers) and using my China.  I love having big dinners but not so big we end up on paper plates and holding food in our laps.  This is the one holiday I like a smaller group (12 to 16 max) so we can actually all sit at the table together and eat a leisurely dinner talking, laughing and enjoying each others company.  This year it was just my mom and I but we do not let that stop our traditions.  Rachel Maddow posted the below badge on FaceBook and I could not agree more!

Finally used my Cuisinart Cookie press I bought last year on clearance.  It did help the egg yolk filling go further.  I'll be using it this year for cookies too.

Yes, some people still pay postage and the cost of cards to send to others. Possibly they're traditionalists, do not own computers,  no smart phones, not caring for social media or they care enough, (hate that part), to spend the time and money to buy cards for the year, to send to people like me.  I, on the other hand, do think about mailing a few on certain holidays but  forget to add to shopping lists. I do send cards for Christmas and fortunately for many, with no yearly update letters enclosed telling all about my wonderful family, home, travels or life. You're welcome, that is my gift to all.

Day 324 - Lisa

We stopped by Costco this evening to pick up a pumpkin pie.  Everyone says they are such a good deal and taste great.  We've been getting our pumpkin pie from them for many years now.  However, I do not agree with the deal part.  Every time I get a pie they cost anywhere from $150 to $300.  I go in for a pie and come out with really important needs like the items in the picture below.  I mean what would pumpkin pie be without DVD's and books!

Remember the little tree in our neighbor's yard that was dropping it's leaves?  

Well now it looks like this.  Like most people, when it's not covered, it can be a pretty ugly sight!

My Tia Chickie sent my mom and I some cute holiday decorations.  Including a Santa and Snowman night light.  It's very cute in person.  Here in this pic it looks like Frosty has a bad case of acne.

Once again a visit to the vet was good for oneeya  and hard on my finances.  However look at the cute bag and pill treats we got for that small fortune. Sigh.

I was determined to have a fire today.  Our first fire since moving in.  It's Sunday, it's cold outside, football is on and I want to relax in my pj's for the the day.  We went out twice to the store for various items and each time I forgot to buy wood.  So dang it, I got back into my regular clothes and headed to Home Depot for the wood.  By 4:30 pm the fire was burning.  I "thought" the pets would love this.  Seems the fire cleared the room.  The cat sat at the farthest point of the room and looked at me like, "why in the HELL are you trying to catch the house on fire."  The dog jumped on the couch panted feverishly and then just left.  So there I sat all by myself with my barely roaring fire.  I guess we will never have one of those Hallmark card pictures of the pet sleeping near the fireplace all warm, cozy and content.  I have no idea what kind of wood I was burning.  Maybe pine?  But it dwindles to ash quickly.  So I built the fire over and over again.  Frustrated with the wood not stacking right. Then I realized that my Indian instincts do not relay to how to insert a metal wood grate.  I had it upside down.  LOL  Aye Lisa.  So I had to yell at my mom to bring me the potholders so I could flip the very hot wood grate.  Two hours later the house was insufferably hot, the wood was all burnt and it wasn't even 7:00 pm.  I guess I have to work on my timing, I extremely out of practice.  Meanwhile the cat came back into the room.  I'm pretty sure she was thinking, "whew glad that's over."

Halloween candy, yep still here.  Lisa says no one will eat it at her job, okay but there are two people here who will and neither should.;-

Woke up to my mama cooking pancakes (thank you) and did my sister's arrival countdown.  Twelve more days and she will be here for a four day visit.  Her first time at our home and during the holidays.  Woohoo.  We have a few things planned for the weekend but mostly just relaxing and visiting.

Seems we have an eager early bird plant here.  November 2nd when I put these bulbs in the pot I was hoping to see them in early February!

All I can think about today is that tomorrow I get to sleep in and have my kitty lay next to me, well until I move a body part and she attacks it.

So maybe that's why you should cover your plants when the temperature drops overnight.  Have to hope this Hostas Patriot comes back in the spring.

Having worked three holiday seasons at Hallmark in my teens before the huge Black Friday craze and knowing how stressful that was, I can only imagine today's debacle.  Well, I do know as my mom and aunt were both employed at Target.  I will not participate in Black Friday.  I've signed all the online petitions for Target and WalMart employees asking for no early hours on Friday morning.  Can we just have the whole Thursday to enjoy with our families?  There are plenty of days between Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas to get your sales $ Mr. Retailer!

I'm sitting at the computer and something caught my eye when I looked out the window.  Facing me, on the fence is this beautiful hawk.  I'm not sure because of distance and how sat, if it's a red tail or not.  I'm hoping it is, because it's a very special symbol to my Amah-Mutsun tribe, one it represents is providing us security and protection.

<sigh> There is nothing this cat does not think she owns.  Funny, she hates being inside but loves being on top of my truck!  Queen of the Toyota.

This clock belonged to my late husband's Nan, (maternal grandmother). When she passed and his mother went through Nan's household items, that were packed away, this was among them.  Terry's mother didn't want it and neither did he but I loved it and the retro look.  I convinced my husband that it would look great in his garage and that's where we had it.  It was mass produced between 1954-1959 and as you can see, has a cord.  I want to put it up in the garage here but since there is only one electrical outlet, will have to buy a surge board.  If you like you can go to Telechron.net and view many vintages clocks from the General Electric Co.

I wonder what she is thinking?  Books tell me she's just thinking how can I catch that bird or eat that bug but when I see her so still and her eyes looking so far away I wonder if we really know?

Little tree in the neighbor's yard is losing it's leaves another sign of the season.  Wonder how long before it stands naked to all?

I look at this tree each morning when I wake.  It still has leaves on it.  Another two weeks and it'll be bald.  It's been beautiful watching the leaves make their transformation from green to orange to gold.

When I entered my bedroom last night, this is what I found.  Ahhh, since my dog sleeps at the end of the bed I wasn't prepared for that body part to be this close to my head. I don't know what the reason was for oneeya to change her sleep location, although it did make me think it was time to rotate the mattress. Stripped the bedding, rotated the mattress and when I was putting the clean bedding on, the official house bed testing cat came in to check my work. Thankfully she approved and oneeya is at the end of the bed again.

I'm not a big fan of Krispy Kreme but right now about 10 of these might see me through this Saturday at work.  Whew boy!

My daughter, much to my surprise, pulled into the garage.  Don't know if she did it to avoid the frost in the early morning or if she thought is was a  drive-thru establishment and I was suppose to put on skates to bring her a window tray full of food!

I usually love Fridays but this is the second one in a row that does not see me having a Saturday off.  I love Fall but dread inventory season.  Right now I'm in so deep I can't see straight.

Once beautiful, flourishing, plants are looking a little tired so time to trim, transplant and try different locations.  Hmmm, that could apply to many people too.

Day 312 - Lisa

My mama and I went to dinner with a co-worker of mine.  We ate at Longhorn's.  They've changed their western theme over the past year.  Less Indians and well, thankfully less of this pictures.  Kind of curbs the appetite.

She thinks now that she had a successful escape to the outside that every door or window is a possible visit to the outside.  She also thinks by howling, meowing and getting underfoot someone is going to open it for her and there are days I consider it!

I did it and hope you have too.  Very nice having the polling place practically across the street, ahem, a main highway. Also the fact that I was voting in a church meant I could vote making a difference and pray I wouldn't fall down running across the road!

We added another peacock to the sitting room. I'm not sure what the symbolism is of teapots and peacocks combined is.  I sure it will cause many a visitors to cock their heads.  Bad pun, I know.

I had to use all of the frozen bread instead of the one I planned on baking for our lasagna dinner.  When I removed the package of three out of the freezer they were smashed together so let them thaw and got out some mini loaf pans.  Divided and left to rise they seemed to have exploded or I was channeling Lucy Ricardo.

My Tia Chickie sent us some Giants goodies.  I guess she thinks my head is much bigger than it really is.  It's the only thing on me that's apparently been on a diet.
