This was the Dick Clark that was part of my life through my teens. The show from Philadelphia that aired every week day afternoon and brought so much joy to me, dancing with my sisters or anyone else in our front room. No color tv then, black and white was the color. Black and white were guest performers. That was BIG for a TV show in those days and Dick Clark didn't seemed to be aware or brought undue attention to it. He always had the aura of calmness and acceptance in his demeanor. So this man continued for decades building a successful business empire but always, in my eyes, introduced so many of us to new things, both musically and culturally. A true pioneer.
